What Is GrapheneOS?
GrapheneOS is a security-focused, open-source operating system for smartphones. It is based on Android but is redesigned to provide stronger security protections and greater user control. GrapheneOS is primarily developed for Google Pixel devices because of their advanced hardware security features, which allow the operating system to better protect user data.
Unlike standard Android distributions, GrapheneOS minimizes unnecessary background processes and reduces data exposure by default. It does not include Google services unless the user chooses to install them, and all system components are designed to operate with strict permission controls.
How GrapheneOS Protects User Privacy
GrapheneOS improves privacy by limiting how apps access data and system resources. It includes enhanced permission controls that allow users to decide exactly what information an app can access, such as location, network access, sensors, or storage. Many permissions can be granted temporarily or denied entirely without breaking core system functionality.

GrapheneOS does not collect user analytics, track device usage, or include advertising services. User data is stored locally on the device and protected with strong encryption.
